faith
Scattered around the globe are the several million adherents of the Bahá'í Faith. I'm very happy to announce that the Faith is a quiet breath of fresh air and common sense in a world gone thoroughly mad. Bahá'ís get along pretty well with other people. We don't start wars. We're not bossy. We don't beg for money on the television. Like most communities of faith, we have laws to observe and books to read. Here's a smidge of info plus a couple little hobby projects of mine if you're curious.
what does it mean to be a Bahá'í?
What do Bahá'ís believe? Where does the Faith come from? What are some of the issues faced by Bahá'ís in the world today? What sort of devotions or practices do Bahá'ís have? What does it mean to be a Bahá'í? I'll try to answer a few questions in my own words.
Bahá'í links
Bahá'ís are active on the web, and there are many sites presenting scriptures, introductions, photographs and other materials. Here are a few of my favorites.
the Bahá'í World Center
On the Western slopes of Mount Carmel, facing the Mediterranean, the Bahá'í World Center climbs nineteen landscaped terraces. The Shrine of the Báb is the centerpiece. Bahá'ís have built something lasting and beautiful on the hills above Haifa, Israel. These photos, courtesy of Marco Abrar of bahaipictures.com, will give you a taste.
Bahá'í prayer of the day (legacy)
This little gadget displays a small photo and a different prayer from the Bahá'í writings every day. It's a bit of questionable legacy code from the previous deep gray sea website. I decided keep the script file and page since there may be folks using it in the wild.
Bahá'í prayer of the day Google Gadget
If you have a personalized iGoogle home page, you can now add a Bahá'í prayer of the day gadget to it. It displays the opening lines of the prayer, the date in the Bahá'í calendar, and the photo that accompanies the prayer on the bahaiprayers.org website. I hope that this little gadget gives you a moment of happiness when you open your web browser first thing in the morning. Follow the link to the gadget's page on Google.
